.jpg) CELDAC is in the process of training a cadre of women livestock workers through certified female Master Trainers. This initiative provides opportunities for self-employment and income generation among the rural women, as well as helps them in maintaining the health and production of livestock. In order to pledge for sustainability of these livestock healthcare & extension workers, the project extends timely and extensive support to establish market mechanism for them.This is the beginning of a great transformation. In the typically traditional areas where a woman is not even entitled to make decisions, she has turned in to a self-employed, socio-economically empowered woman.
.jpg) The operational process of project initiates with social mobilization, but before that a situational
analysis is made to have an idea about basic facilities of infrastructure, literacy rate, livestock potential and vet services already available in the area. Once the area is identified, the social mobilizers format a cluster of ten potential villages. With the help of key contact persons, a community meeting is organized in each village for understanding of the project. Here the community itself nominates female candidates for livestock healthcare & management training. Out of these nominated women, two potential ladies are finally selected from each village.
.jpg) These candidates selected as per set criteria, undergo one month comprehensive training by the certified female veterinary doctors.The LLW training curriculum has been specially tailored and endorsed by “The University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences”, (UVAS) Lahore, ensuring reflection of high standards of teaching methodology and content in curative and preventive primary veterinary services.
